Certified Tiny Breed Protocol

Becoming a NADSR Certified Tiny Breed Breeder
  1. Your kennel must be registered with NADSR.
  2. Apply for Certified Tiny Breed status after registration is complete or register and apply for Tiny Breed status together in one step.
  3. All dogs must be microchipped prior to applying for Certified Tiny Breed status.
  4. Submit to a NADSR site visit to assure the health and sanitary conditions of the dogs and kennel.
  5. Provide to NADSR upon request any veterinary and breeding records as proof of the health and quality of the dogs. Also provide customer names and phone numbers.
  6. The dog must be over one year of age with a natural weight that was not caused by stunted growth, malnutrition or health issues.
  7. A good understanding of the health issues of the Tiny Breeds is mandatory and must be provided upon request to NADSR.
  8. Follow all instructions carefully on each form. Please include a copy of registration from other registry, Registration application, Certified Tiny Breed application completed by your veterinarian, a quality Photo of the dog and $20.00 per dog being registered and applying for Certified Tiny Breed status. Registration alone is $15.00. (Special rates are available for large kennels.)
  9. Because of the fragile health of most Tiny Breeds, we do not recommend breeding without the proper training from an experienced breeder with an excellent back ground. If you have never bred these dogs but are interested in learning, please give us a call and we will have one of our Certified Tiny Breeders contact you.

NADSR Breeders of Certified Tiny Breed
  1. All offspring from a Certified Tiny must have a microchip at sale and recorded on registration papers. At one year of age the offspring may apply for Tiny status.
  2. You may choose limited registration for the pups you sell. It will be your responsibility to explain why and what this means to the new owner. If you do choose limited registration you DO NOT have to submit a microchip number.
  3. If you choose full registration for the pups you sell, please inform the new owners of the possibility of registering their dog as a Certified Tiny Breed at one year of age. Also discuss with them the fragile health of Tiny breeds and the possible issues that can arise from breeding these dogs.
